Jennifer and I were able to sneak away for a few days this week to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We have always said we wanted to take a big trip to the islands, so for this trip, we ended up camping in a tent on Bear Island at Hammocks Island State Park in North Carolina. We had an awesome time, and it was the perfect getaway. We rode a ferry over the island and hiked to our campsite. There are just a few campsites on the island, and you are definitely secluded. We even survived a bad thunderstorm and stayed dry during the second night we were camping.

I’m really blessed that I am married to my best friend. We were able to disconnect and simply spend time with each other. Trips like this help you to reflect and think through all the good memories. A lot has changed over the past twenty years, with a career change and three kids, but God has been faithful.

Looking back, I realized that I have spent much of the last twenty years discovering who I am. I look forward to spending the next twenty leaving a great legacy for my children.

Here are a few pictures of our trip, and one just to show you how much I have changed over the past twenty years!
