Two New Email Apps – Spark & Mail Pilot 2

Mailbox has been my main email app on my phone for a long time now.  On my Mac, I typically use AirMail 2.  Occasionally, I see a new email app that gets me interested. I’ve been playing around with two new apps that both look great.

Spark

Spark is a new free app by Readdle that is customizable and powerful. I used it for a few weeks and I really like it. It tries to reduce your notifications by only showing you what is important. You can also mass delete newsletters and other emails that aren’t important.  Overall, it’s a great app, but after using it for a few weeks, I went back to Mailbox. The main problem I had with Spark is that is was slow at times. It just seemed a little buggy and I like the simplicity and speed of Mailbox. Here’s a video of Spark.

Mail Pilot 2

Mail Pilot 2 is a great app by Mindsense. They also have a new app for the Mac.  Mail Pilot 2 for iOS is $5.99 and works on the iPad and iPhone. I am planning on trying it next. It turns your email into a task management system. I love the concept, and so far, I have really enjoyed using the beta version of Mail Pilot 2 for the Mac. Best of all, the company was founded by a couple of Virginia Tech students. This one has a good chance of replacing Mailbox on my phone.

I’m always playing around with new apps. I love seeing innovation in the user interface, and all the competition is making all iOS apps better. Leave me a comment and let me know 1) What do you use? and 2) Why do you like it?

Are you still using/trying Mail Pilot 2? Have been searching for any info here in the U.K. After using the trial/Beta version and loving it but cannot seem. To find any version currently available for iOS or macOS? The Mail Pilot website simply says coming soon and to sign up for news but having signed up months ago have yet to hear anything!

I moved on from Mail Pilot, the beta was just a little too unstable. I had several instances where it would not send emails and I didn’t notice it for a day or two. Unfortunately, it really looks like MailPilot is no longer in development from looking at their social media accounts. On my Mac, my two favorite clients are Airmail and the new Spark. So far, I’m really liking Spark. On iOS, I like Outlook and Spark the best. They just seem to fit my workflow the best.
