Take note of Evernote
I want to share a new productivity tool with all my readers. For quite some time I have been looking for a program that I can use to collect and take notes on my mac. I used a trial version of Microsoft OneNote on Windows and really liked how I could organize my thoughts, but they don’t have a mac version. I have tried using the notes in Apple mail and I have tried using the Notebook program, but I just couldn’t find something that fit the way I would like to work, and that was accessible from my phone.
I stumbled upon Evernote today, when I saw another pastor twitter about using it on his iphone. I went to their website and I think I have found what I have been looking for. This free program is awesome. It captures notes, pictures, and web pages and then organizes them so you can search through them. It has some really cool features. If you upload a picture, it will find and recognize any text so that you can search through it. This would be great for taking pictures of whiteboards to capture meeting ideas. But the most important part of this program is how you can access it. They have versions for Windows, Mac, iphone, Windows Mobile phones, and Firefox extensions. In addition to all of those options, you can also just go to their webpage to search through your notes. To understand it, you really need to see it in action. Here is a video to give you a better idea of how this could help you stay organized in your ministry.
And one last thing, you can add notes by sending an email to a special evernote email address. I setup this email as a contact in Jott, so that I can just call Jott and have it transcribe my voice message into text that will show up automatically in evernote. That is just stinkin cool!
