This article in Newsweek is about a town that just an hour away. It’s very similar to our town and culture here. This is why I struggle when I see church planters continue to talk about only planting churches in urban and suburban areas. Some of the greatest needs are in rural areas that don’t have access to the basic necessities in life.
In the midst of poverty, the church has a responsibility to care for the “least of these” When you meet the physical needs of life, the door is opened to share about the most important need of everyone in life, which is a relationship with Christ. Several people from Cornerstone are active in our local Free Clinic, and our church has supported it as well, but there is still so much to do.
