Body Building

We started a new 3 week series at church called body building. I wanted to take a few weeks and talk about the importance of building up the body by obeying all the one anothers’ of the Bible. It’s going to be a fun series. We are getting ready to revamp our life groups and encourage people to get involved in a small groups, so this series will focus on the importance of doing life together. I showed a powerful video about Dick and Rick Hoyt about the power of working together. Here is a youtube clip of the video I showed. There are several more videos at youtube about the Hoyts.

I started working out myself a few weeks ago. After I worked out yesterday, my arms were shaking so bad that I had trouble inserting a dollar bill into a drink machine. Working out makes you feel great, but it sure hurts while you’re doing it. Our local rec center has a line of Nautilus Nitro machines, which are really great to get a good workout. I may be a little biased since I designed several of the pieces, but they really are great machines. The new Nautilus One series is by far the most advanced of anything on the market. If you ever get a chance to work out on any of the machines, then you should definitely check them out. On a side note, some of the guys I worked with for the last ten years were laid off last week. Just keep them in your prayers as they decide what to do next. I hate the way that the business world treats workers, but in our society it’s just part of life now.

I created the graphic by getting a picture from istockphoto and modifiying it in Photoshop Elements. Maybe one of these days we can afford the whole Adobe suite, but for now elements works most of the time. I applied a chrome layer style to the body building text and a small outer glow around the guy lifting weight. Just like working out, doing the one anothers’ isn’t easy. It takes work and discipline, but the results are incredible. We are created to live in Biblical community and when we try to do life alone, we really miss out on what God has intended for our life.
