Church Land, Baptism, and Swimming Pools

Above is a picture of the land that our church has bought. Eighteen acres of flat beautiful land that God has provided. I think it is absolutely amazing that our little church has already almost paid off the land. If we keep going, it should be paid off by the end of the year. When I go out there, I can’t help but dream about the future of our church. We are at a critical point right now. The meeting on the 13th can really make a difference in the future of our church. What do we want to allow God to accomplish through our church? What is our purpose? Who are we trying to reach? How do we engage our community? These are all the questions that I keep trying to answer. More than anything, I want to allow God to lead us. I think the danger we face is not being concerned about the lost all around us in our community. God is definitely stirring up inside me a desire to reach out to our Jerusalem. Please try to attend our meeting on the 13th as the Elders & Leaders seek input on the future of our church.

We are also planning a pretty cool service on the church land on Sept 24th. We’ll set up and have our service and a meal on the land. Here’s our problem. We also want to have a baptism, but we don’t have any water on the land to use.
So …,
we could buy a portable baptistry for $2000,
or, we could use a galvanized watering trough, like on the farm
or, we could just use a swimming pool from Wal-Mart, for only $98 I might add!!
As Jeff Foxworthy would say,
You might be a redneck, if you were baptized in a swimming pool in the middle of a hay field!
