New WordPress Theme from ChurchThemer

Recently, we converted our church website to WordPress using a theme from ChurchThemer. I’m using WordPress more and more for website design because of the flexibility and power it provides. Starting with a high-quality theme really speeds up the design process. With a theme specifically focused and designed for churches, you can have an easy to use website in a fraction of the time and cost of a full-blown custom designed website. I’m a big believer in customizing themes instead of starting from scratch. Most churches simply don’t have the budget to do custom websites.

ChurchThemer is a theme shop devoted to developing custom WordPress themes specifically for churches. They currently have two themes, with several more in process. Their latest theme is pictured above and is titled Ezekiel. I have been impressed with their support. They have answered my questions quickly, and have made improvements based on feature requests and suggestions I have made. By using custom post types in WordPress, they have made it easy to add and manage events, news and announcements, and sermons directly on the website. The biggest advantage of WordPress is that you can edit the site from anywhere on the internet. I’ve even made updates and changes to the site using my android phone using the WordPress app. Here is what they have to say about their newest theme.

The Ezekiel theme is perfect for Churches looking to have an interactive website powered by WordPress. It includes many church-specific functions including sermon podcasts, news, photo galleries, and events.

Social networking is also a breeze with links to Facebook and Twitter conveniently placed right on the home page beside the latest sermon. Users of the site can stream/listen to any sermon you post right in their browser or download the file to listen later. This is also mobile-friendly as there is no flash on the entire site so you won’t be alienating iPad and iPod users.
