I’m Ready to be Unleashed

I haven’t had a chance to do much on the computer the past few days. The Ken Freeman event has kept me busy. Last night our young adult praise band opened up for skateboarder Tim Byrne, who opened up for Ken Freeman. Our band did an awesome job for just their 2nd time playing in public. It was a great opportunity to lead 800+ in worship. They did a good job of pointing people to Christ. Singing in worship is not about drawing attention to the band. It’s about getting out of the way so people can feel and respond to the presence of God. And over 50 people gave their life to Christ last night. It was a lot of hard work setting up the stage, but well worth it. We rented a 2×18″ subwoofer that really added some thump in the auditorium. The work never gets old when you see people respond to God. We serve an awesome God!

Tonight, I’m sitting in a hotel room in Anderson with Chad and Joey and Chris. We stopped by Newspring tonight and registered and then sat in on their youth service. It was loud and proud, Newspring style. It makes me want to get a stack of subwoofers for church. I liked the emphasis of the current youth series on discipleship as well.

After that, all 11 of us from Galax went out to Olive Garden tonight. The girls got a little silly, but we definitely had fun. We planned out which breakout sessions to attend for tomorrow, and loaded up on pasta and garlic. It should make for an interesting night in the guys room if you know what I mean.
