Has eBay lost its appeal?

This post hurts me to write. I used to be a huge fan of ebay. You could find so many good deals on so many different products. But for the last year, I have only browsed ebay a few times and every time I do I get disgusted. Why? Because the site has been taken over by professional ebay dealers. When ebay first started, it was for everyone. The bidding was fierce and the tensions were high. You could get some really good deals if you knew what to look for.

Now it seems like every item has a starting bid above what you would pay new for the item. Almost every item I have looked at is sold by a big dealer. ebay has turned into a giant flea-market with very few good deals. Instead of individuals selling stuff at good prices, it is now big business.

What does that have to do with church? How many churches have fallen into the same trap. What starts out as a group of individuals who are entrepreneurial and have a vision, sadly turns into big business with a group of career professionals calling the shots. Unfortunately, it happens all too often.

I have to agree w/you. First on the ebay thing…It used to be so much fun, but I actually closed my account just this week =)
I think you’re doing an awesome job, you’re following what God wants you to do, and I just know that he has great things planned for you and your church!

I follow your blog everyday. I’m a Christian from Botetourt County, VA.

Anyways, I see hwo good you are with computers and I have a question for you…perhaps something you will want to research:

I switched from WordPress to Blogger because I was have so much trouble with the former website. However, since I switched websites, my comments have dwindled. Some people say they have trouble posting. Others don’t understand the computer jargon.

I admit that this site is not as easy to post comments as WordPress. I like their template that simply says name, email address, etc.

My question is this: Do you know if there is a way I can change my comments page to be more user friendly like a new template or change the html? I’ve wanted to contact Google about this, but I don’t know or can’t find the appropriate address. I can’t find anything when I do a general search for a comment template on google.

Thanks! God bless to your ministry!

Never mind…I found some software that I really like and hopefully it’ll be much easier for readers to post comments.

I see that you found Disqus. That is the one I would probably recommend. I have seen several blogs using their service. There are a few others like HaloScan and IntenseDebate, but I’m not very familiar with them. Thanks for reading my blog. btw, from reading your blog, I see you have been on Remicade, I’m on a biologic medicine right now as well for my psoriasis. I’ll be praying for you. Thanks again
