What Happened to Veggietales?

Man, do you ever get the feeling that you are just totally out of it. I just ran across Phil Vischer’s Blog and read about how Big Idea, the company behind Veggietales went bankrupt back in 2003. I’ve been a big Veggietales fan since my first daughter was born. She absolutely loved them growing up as have my two boys. And I didn’t even know what the company has been through. They have been getting a lot of press lately because of Veggietales being shown in the Saturday morning slot on NBC.

Phil Vischer, the guy that started it all, shares on his blog the story of the companies rise and fall. It’s a long post, but incredibly interesting. It’s also a few years old now. This is a cautionary tale, not just for companies, but for churches as well. Where do you get your vision? From the latest business model, or from your relationship to God. His honesty and candidness really moved me as I read his story. The part that impacted me the most was reading how people were hurt in the process. If you have a few minutes then this is a great read

    Mike,

What’s really amazing is to hear Phil talking about how clearly God spoke to him during that time, and what HE taught him. You can hear him tell the story in detail at:

It’s a good interview, especially some of the amazing things that movie studios are saying to him. It is truly God making his presence known.
